lose your head in the clouds

I'm really excited because I'm going to the nme awards tour tomorrow in Bournemouth.
As soon as I saw the line up I was dying to go, but it would be too expensive with travel and everything (damn ferries) but luckily I won tickets, woo !!!

I've seen 3/4 of the acts before; Miles Kane at the Isle of Wight Festival, Peace in Southampton and Django Django when supporting Hot Chip also in Southampton, and I am super super super looking forward to see them again :-) I also can't wait to see Palma Violets, ah they are so good!!

Miles Kane at IOW Festival

As it is half term I thought I would delve into the world of zines, as alot of people I follow on here make them and it seems quite fun and I like the idea of swapping for other peoples. I'm not really sure what to make my zine about or what to put into it, if you have any tips I would appreciate it if you tell me in the comments :-)

where the wild things grow

Where the Wild Things Grow is Pixie Geldof fronted band Violet's latest song. I have listened to previous tracks by the band before and liked what I heard, but after hearing Where the Wild Things Grow the only word I could think of was wow. The soothing strings and velvet vocals made me feel like I was floating on a cloud of amazingness (not a word I know) and I never wanted the song to end, so I didn't let it by putting the track on repeat. I definitely recommend you check them out! On the bands facebook page you can get a free download of What You Gave To Me, another great song.

WHERE THE WILD THINGS GROW, what do you think?

festival excitement

Living on the Isle of Wight sucks for the majority of the year, the best things to happen here are Isle of Wight Festival and Bestival in the summer. The Isle of Wight Festival line up has been revealed over the last couple of months with (great) headliners; The Stone Roses, Bon Jovi and The Killers along with some of my favourites The Maccabees, Ben Howard, Jake Bugg, Palma Violets, Paul Weller and more! I'm eagerly waiting for the other announcement on Friday.

The first Bestival announcement was revealed today and as usual I am very excited. Two of the three headliners are Elton John and Snoop Dogg - people you don't normally hear together in one sentence - aren't my favourites on the line up but I don't think I'll be able to resist singing along to Can You Feel the Love Tonight! Now to the acts I am most excited about Bombay Bicycle Club, I'm really glad they're going as I always seem the miss them, Jessie Ware (love her almost as much as Alexa  Chung), Bastille, Swim Deep (<3), Peace (<3 <3) and Jaws.

I can't decide which line up  I am most excited about but I am so looking forward to the summer now and to hopefully see all my favourite bands! Are you going to any festivals this summer? And who would be your dream line up?

faves

These are a few of my favourite tracks at the moment! I was thinking of putting them all into one playlist but it would go on for about 50 hours so I thought I might post them in installments :-) I made a Spotify playlist of these awesome (!!!) tracks, you can listen to it here , minus Swim Deep because Beach Justice wasn't on there :(

Oh and I hope you all appreciate my a m a z i n g collage (not) x x

happy birthday alex turner

On this day 27 years ago Alex Turner was born, so what a great excuse to share my four favourite songs of his.

It's Hard to Get Around the Wind
This song is from Alex Turner's solo EP which is
made of six original tracks for the film Submarine.
The imagery in this track paired with the soft guitar
is a pleasure for the ears and mind.

Cornerstone
Cornerstone featured on Arctic Monkeys third album
Humbug, and was the second single released from the
album. The lyrics in this track are by far my favourite
on any other Arctic Monkeys song. The video for this
song is among my favourites, Alex must be one of the
only people that can pull of a red, turtle neck jumper.

R U Mine?
R U Mine was digitally released on in late February
2012 and then released for the Record Store Day
on a limited edition purple vinyl in April 2012.This
track has more of a rock and roll feel than previous
Arctic Monkeys tracks, with Alex's voice sounding
'manlier' to compliment his new image. This track
has another brilliant music video, where the band
lip sing and air drum along to the song.

Standing Next to Me
In 2008 Alex Turner and Miles Kane collaborated
with each other to release an album under the name
of The Last Shadow Puppets. The voices of Alex and
Miles perfectly compliment each other to create a
harmonious sound that interweaves with the rhythmic

guitars, which makes me want to dance around my
bedroom, singing along and always puts me in a good
mood.

Thankyou for reading x

swim deep - the sea

Birmingham band Swim Deep revealed a new track this morning on Huw Stevens Radio 1 show.  The Sea continues their run of feel good tracks with catchy choruses and makes it very clear big things are to come from them in 2013.
